PMC Research Center together with Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation is launching a new call in the framework of the project “Public Policy Discourse and Dialogue Platform – 2020” targeted at creating a platform to stimulate constructive and systematic policy debates among different political and social groups of Georgian society. Among other goals, the project aims to encourage young researchers in Georgia to develop valuable policy research papers on important policy issues.
As part of this project, Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation and PMC Research Center announce with some excitement a competition for researchers to elaborate policy research paper on the following topic.
In recent years Georgia has signed free-trade agreements (FTA) with a number of its main trade partners (such as the European Union, China, Turkey etc.). At the same time, Government of Georgia (GoG) is currently involved in the negotiation process with other countries (such as the USA and India) on signing the FTA. Therefore, it’s becoming critically important to assess the economic implications of the already signed trade agreements for Georgia and, if necessary, adjust its economic policy to meet the newly emerged demands. The research paper should provide economic analysis of possible benefits and disbenefits of Georgia’s Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China. Besides, the paper should assess in what way it could have affected the full endorsement of other existing FTAs such as the DCFTA with the European Union. The researcher should analyze crosscutting issues and assess the implications of the FTA with China on the economic indicators such as trade volume, investments, and others. The research should also elaborate recommendations on how the Georgian economic policy can be adjusted so that the already existing FTAs can further contribute to the sustainable economic development in Georgia.
Interested candidates should present:
