The importance and use of renewable energy sources (RES) has been raising in recent years on a global scale. Therefore, the significance of this issue is increasing for Georgia as well. However, Georgia has already been an observer of Energy Community (EnC) since 2007 and applied for full membership in 2014.

Transit of Energy Resources from Iran via Georgia to Western Markets: Prospects, Risks, Challenges and Opportunities
Possibilities for energy transit from Iran to Georgia and further to the Western markets that have recently opened to energy supplies from Iran as international sanctions have been lifted. Iran, estimated to be the world's fourth-largest country by proven oil reserves 1 , and first or second by gas reserves 2 , is in the process of reclaiming its share of gas and oil exports to the world, and in particular to Europe.

PMCG research center, jointly with Konrad Adenauer Foundation , holded a presentation of research results and public discussions on the issue – “Challenges and Opportunities of Energy Transit from Iran to Georgia and Europe”.
According to the various surveys, access to finance is one of the main challenges for companies. “Produce in Georgia” is trying to solve this issue, however the program is selective, which means that only companies with certain features are selected, and it’s not the policy of the business enabling environment”, said Maya Grigolia, Research Director at PMC Research.
In the first half of 2016, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year: the volume of exports reduced (-5.7%) overall with the declines especially steep in the export of Ferro-alloys (-32.6%), motor cars (-24.5%) and medicaments (-24.4%); without including medicaments for hepatitis C the volume of imports also decreased (-7.0%) overall with significant declines in the import of petroleum oil (-20.2%), petroleum gases (-28.6%) and motor cars (-15.3%); turkey became a major export partner country, while exports to Azerbaijan reduced significantly.

Average Monthly Incomes and Expenditures per Household - 2015
Household income (3.9%) as well as expenditure (5.1%) increased; the main source of household income was wages (38% of the total income); 23% of household total income is used on everyday products; on average, households save about 180 GEL per month.
How Much Does the Average Georgian Family Spend Per Year?
In 2015, average household monthly income (cash and non-cash) equaled 1,022 GEL which is 3.9% higher than the corresponding indicator in 2014. Together with income growth, the volume of expenditure also increased (5%) and amounted to 1,005 GEL.
